The Census of 1810 lists "Rugh, widow" with the following family" one female over age 45, one male age 10-16, one male less than age 10, one female age 10-16, and two femailes less than age 10. This record does not agree with the known children of the Ruch family. It is probable that the older sons, George and John were working at other farms as laborers to support the family. That should have left two sons and three daughters at home rather than the one son and three daughters shown above.
George Ruch owned 135 acres of land, which apparently remained in the possession of Margaret until 1835, when she probably died. There are four Orphan's Court proceedings in 1835, which divided the value of the land among the eight children or their decendants. George Jr. Purchased 78 acres from the estate for $548, and John Ruch, his brother, purchased 57 acres in two parcels for $280 (Norhtampton County, PA Orphan's Court Book No 12, pages 228-231, 357-358,391,392) The resulting cash was divided among the heirs or their decendants.
